Today’s topic is basically based on the issue of hp printer offline issues. And we will focus on the reason first of all. And then we will move on to actually what is the meaning of hp printer is offline. Here is why the hp printer keeps going online.

HP printer keeps going offline issue usually crops up due to a printer connection problem or data corruption, and is indicated by an exclamation mark inside a triangle. In most cases, you can fix the issue by checking the cable, cartridge, network, and paper jam issues.

What do you mean by my hp printer is offline?

If you’ve received this error message, it can be frustrating. It doesn’t mean that your printer is broken, however. An offline printer is one that cannot communicate with the device sending the print job.

Unfortunately, a printer that is offline cannot receive new print jobs and process them, so it’s wise to pause all print jobs until you resolve the issue. Do not send any more print requests to your offline printer until you’ve gone through our troubleshooting guide. If you have print jobs in the printer queue, you may need to cancel them until you get back online. Just remember to save your work so that you can print your projects later.

Some of the reasons might be:

  1. Outdated drivers
  2. Connection issues
  3. A settings error

Each of these reasons has a different resolution process. Let’s take a look at what the problem is and how to get back online and printing again.

  2. Next, right-click your printer and select Printer Properties
  3. Click the Ports tab and look to see if your printer uses a WSD port

If it does, follow these steps (but skip this section if it doesn’t)

Steps for setting the standard TCP/IP port

Here is how to set a Standard TCP/IP port. So, here are the steps for setting the standard TCP/IP port are as follows:

  1. Right-click the icon of the printer you want to use in the [Devices and Printers] window, and then click [Printer properties].
  2. Under Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, click the icon of the printer you want to use in the [Printers] window.
  3. Under Windows 8/8.1 and Windows Server 2012/2012 R2, click [Settings] on the Charm Bar, click [Control Panel], then click [View devices and printers] on the [Control Panel] window, right-click the icon of the printer you want to use, and click [Printer Properties].
  4. Click the [Ports] tab, and then click [Add Port].
  5. Click [Standard TCP/IP], and then click [New Port].
  6. In the [Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard] dialog box, click [Next].
  7. In the [Printer Name or IP Address] box, enter the printer name or IP address, and then click [Next].
  8. In the [Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard] dialog box, click [Finish].
  9. Close the printer port dialog box.
  10. Check the location for the selected printer, and click [Close].

If you create a TCP/IP port without a static IP above, you may lose your TCP/IP connection and have the same issue. This is because your network has powered up differently giving you a different DHCP address to the printer that does not match the TCP/IP address above.  This could occur at any time just like the video shows.

So, these were the steps for fixing the hp printer offline issues.
