8 Ways to Fix Hp Touchpad Not Working Windows 10

Method 1: Update Touchpad driver

  • Press Windows Key + X then select Device Manager.
  • Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  • Right-click on your HP Touchpad and select Properties.
  • Switch to Driver tab and click on Update Driver.
  • Now select Browse my computer for driver software.
  • Next, select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
  • Select the HID-compliant device from the list and click Next.
  • After the driver is installed restart your PC to save changes.

Method 2: Reinstall Mouse Driver

Reconnect the mouse:

  • If you have a wireless mouse, try to connect the USB receiver to a different port.
  • You have a wired USB mouse, disconnect and reconnect to a different USB port.

  • Try the mouse on another computer or a different mouse on the current computer to see if the issue follows the mouse.
  • If the issue does not occur on another computer with the same mouse, it could be software related.
  • Check the issue persists on another computer with the same mouse, the mouse might be defective.

  1. To download the latest version of the Hardware Diagnostics for Windows, go to the HP Hardware Diagnostics website.
  2. In the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows section, click Download Diagnostics Windows.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the software.

In Windows, search for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows, right-click the app in the search results and then select Run as administrator.

  1. Click Component Tests.
  2. On the Component Tests menu window, click Input Devices, and then select Mouse/Touchpad Pointer Test and Mouse/Touchpad Drag and Drop Test.
  3. Click Run once.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to test the functioning of the attached mouse.

When you complete the tests, the test results display on the screen.

  • If the mouse passed the tests, click Finish, close the tool, and then restart the computer.
